Dreame not returning to the dock
DIRECT ANSWER
COMMON CAUSES · RANKED
Obstructions around the station MOST COMMON
Dreame's official clearances are 1.5 m in front and 0.5 m on each side. Shoes, cables and door mats inside that zone block the final approach; mirrors and routers or TVs nearby confuse it further.
Dirty signaling area on the base
Every manual FAQ ends the return-to-base row the same way — wipe the station's signaling window. A dust film there hides the dock from the robot completely.
Dock unplugged or moved mid-clean
A station that lost power, or a robot picked up and moved, forces re-positioning — and if that fails the robot re-maps instead of going home. Officially, a robot too far away must be docked by hand once.
Mission started away from the dock UNCOMMON
The official X50 guidance is to start cleaning tasks from the base station — a robot that starts mid-room anchors its map poorly and can lose the way back.
Slippery floor or dirty ramp in front of the dock UNCOMMON
Mop water in front of the station makes the wheels slip during the final climb, and the official checks include cleaning the station's ramp plate so the robot doesn't get stuck on it.
HOW TO FIX IT
Confirm the dock has power
Reseat the power cord at both ends and check the station shows life — a dead dock is invisible to a returning robot.
Run the short-range dock test
Place the robot 1-2 m in front of the station and press its dock button. If it can't dock even from there, skip to the last step and contact support.
Clear the official clearances
Free 1.5 m in front of the dock and 0.5 m on both sides, move it away from routers and TVs, and avoid mirror-like surfaces facing it.
Wipe the signaling area and ramp
With a dry cloth, clean the station's signaling window and its ramp plate, and dry any mop water on the floor in front.
Start missions from the dock
Dock the robot by hand once, then always start cleans from the station, and don't carry the robot or move the dock mid-mission.
Restart, and reset only knowingly
Restart the robot and retry. A factory reset (hold the reset button about 3 seconds) is the official last resort — it erases all data including saved maps.
