DIRECT ANSWER

"LDS abnormal" means the spinning laser turret is jammed, dirty or blocked, so the robot can't map. Dreame's official fix: update the firmware, free the turret and its cover, and clean the laser windows.

COMMON CAUSES · RANKED

1

Turret jammed by hair or debris MOST COMMON

The official check is whether the LDS is "stuck by foreign objects" — hair and grit under the spinning turret stall its little motor, especially after runs under furniture.

2

Dusty laser emission and receiving windows

Dreame's articles name the two holes precisely — if the emission or receiving window is coated in dust, the laser can't fire and read, and the alert repeats on open floor.

3

LDS cover stuck after a bump

The turret's protective cover doubles as a pressure sensor. Officially it must move freely front-back and left-right and rebound when tapped — wedged under a sofa once, it can stay compressed.

4

Outdated firmware UNCOMMON

Dreame's official step 1 for LDS alerts is checking for a firmware update — several LDS false alarms have been fixed in software.

5

Turret hardware failure RARE

An LDS that stays silent or visibly wobbles after cleaning, with current firmware, points at the module itself — officially a case for after-sales with photos or a short video.

HOW TO FIX IT

No battery or electrical work involved in this fix.

Update the firmware first

In the app, check for a robot firmware update and install it — this is Dreame's official first step for LDS alerts.

Free the turret

Power off, then gently rotate the LDS turret with a finger and remove any hair or debris around it until it spins freely.

Test the cover's rebound

Gently press and tap the LDS cover — it must move freely in every direction and spring back; pick out anything wedged around it.

Clean the laser windows

Wipe the laser emission and receiving holes and the whole turret with a soft, dry cloth — no liquids.

Restart and remap-test

Restart the robot and run a short clean on open floor, watching that the turret spins and the map draws.

Escalate with evidence

If the alert survives all of the above, contact Dreame after-sales with clear photos or a short video of the LDS area — the official request for this fault.
