Last verified: 2026-07-06 Tools: vacuum cleaner for the LiDAR opening Time: ~10 min Difficulty: easy

DIRECT ANSWER

Error 18 means the laser cover may be stuck — the pressure-sensing cap over the LiDAR turret is jammed by debris or a knock. Clear around the cover and move the robot away from low furniture.

COMMON CAUSES · RANKED

1

Debris jammed around the laser cover MOST COMMON

eufy's article for Errors 18/19/20 blames debris sticking the cover or sensor — shake the robot gently and clean around the turret.

2

Cover pressed under low furniture

The cover doubles as a bump sensor for the turret; escaping from under a sofa can leave it held down.

3

Dust inside the LiDAR housing UNCOMMON

eufy's deep-clean for long-used robots includes vacuuming dust out of the LiDAR opening and cleaning the drive belt.

HOW TO FIX IT

No battery or electrical work involved in this fix.

Free the laser cover

Press the cover gently and release — it should float freely; remove any grit lodged in the gap around it.

Shake out trapped debris

Power off, hold the robot upside down and shake gently so particles fall out of the turret; vacuum the LiDAR opening if you can.

Restart away from low furniture

Start the clean from open floor. If Errors 18-20 persist, record a short video of the laser and contact eufy support.
