DIRECT ANSWER

Two beeps split by model: on the N79 family, flashing red = bumper malfunction, solid red = side brush malfunction; on DEEBOT 500/600/601/661, two beeps mean the anti-drop (cliff) sensors need wiping.

COMMON CAUSES · RANKED

1

N79, flashing red — debris behind the bumper MOST COMMON

The official fix is to check the anti-collision bumper for debris and remove it — grit in the gap keeps the bumper compressed.

2

N79, solid red — side brush wrapped

Hair or dirt under the side brushes stalls them; the manual's routine is to check under both brushes and clean as shown in its maintenance section.

3

DEEBOT 500/600/601 — dusty anti-drop sensors

On these models two beeps is the cliff-sensor alarm — the official fix is wiping the anti-drop sensors clean with a cloth.

4

Bumper misaligned after a hard hit RARE

A bumper that no longer springs back evenly after a collision keeps re-triggering the alarm — a support case if tapping doesn't free it.

HOW TO FIX IT

No battery or electrical work involved in this fix.

Match the alarm to your model

N79 family — check the LED. Flashing means bumper, solid means side brushes. 500/600/601/661 — go to the anti-drop sensors.

Free the bumper

Tap along the bumper so trapped debris falls out, then press and release both ends — it must spring back instantly.

Clean the side brushes

Power off, pull the side brushes off their posts, remove wrapped hair, and wipe the brushes and slots with a dry cloth before refitting.

Wipe the anti-drop sensors

Turn the robot over and wipe every sensor window on the underside with a dry cloth until the plastic is clear.

Restart and re-test

Start a clean on open floor; if two beeps return immediately, contact ECOVACS support.

These DEEBOTs run two three-arm side brushes that pull straight off their posts. ECOVACS' official schedule cleans them every two weeks and replaces them every 3-6 months — sooner if the solid-red two-beep alarm keeps returning.
