Roborock stuck mid-clean

Severity: Warning — the run pauses until you move the robot by hand S5S6S7S8Q

DIRECT ANSWER

"Please move the robot to a new location" means the wheels lost grip or the robot boxed itself in. Cables, low furniture and thresholds cause most rescues — clear them and fence trouble spots with no-go zones.

COMMON CAUSES · RANKED

1

Cables and floor clutter MOST COMMON

Charger cords wrap around the main brush or a wheel; the robot drags them until it strands itself.

2

Wedged under low furniture

Sofas and beds a few millimeters lower than the lidar turret trap the robot on the way out — it slides under, then can't turn.

3

Wheels suspended on thresholds or rug edges

The robot beaches itself on a door threshold or thick rug edge — one wheel spins in the air and the run stops.

4

Stuck bumper or dirty cliff sensors UNCOMMON

Phantom obstacles or phantom edges strand the robot in open floor, nowhere near real trouble.

5

Firmware navigation bug RARE

The robot repeats the rescue plea at the same clear spot on every run. Updating firmware in the app has fixed documented cases.

HOW TO FIX IT

No battery or electrical work involved in this fix.

Move it and restart

Set the robot on open, level floor and press start. It re-localizes from the lidar map and carries on.

Sweep the floor first

Bundle cables, pick up socks and shoelaces, and tuck in rug tassels before each run.

Fence repeat offenders

Draw no-go zones or invisible walls in the app around the spots where it keeps getting trapped — under that one sofa, behind the TV cabinet.

Clean bumper and cliff sensors

Tap the bumper gently and check it springs back, then wipe the sensor windows on the underside with a dry cloth.

Check the wheels and the firmware

Press each main wheel — it should spring back — and cut away wound hair. Then update the robot's firmware from the app.
