Roomba Error 7 — Wheel can't turn (600 series)
DIRECT ANSWER
COMMON CAUSES · RANKED
Debris trapped in the wheel well MOST COMMON
Hair, string and grit collect behind the wheel on older robots that have never had the wells cleared.
Robot started on an uneven surface
Starting a job half on a rug or against an obstacle can stall a wheel immediately.
Worn-out wheel module UNCOMMON
These are ten-year-old machines in many homes — wheel motors do eventually die.
HOW TO FIX IT
Restart from open floor
Lift the robot to the middle of the room and press CLEAN.
Clean both wheel wells
Push each wheel in and out, shake the debris loose, and blow the wells out with compressed air if you have it.
Work the drivetrain
Push the robot backwards and forwards about 30 cm on the floor, then spin both wheels by hand and compare resistance.
Replace the stiff module
A wheel that won't spin freely after cleaning means the module is done. It swaps out with basic screws.
