Roborock Error 23 — Could not return to dock
DIRECT ANSWER
COMMON CAUSES · RANKED
Dirt over the dock's signal beacon MOST COMMON
The dock guides the robot in with infrared. A dusty or smeared emitter window makes the dock invisible.
Objects blocking the dock approach
Shoes and boxes in front of the dock break the robot's final approach line.
Dock moved mid-clean UNCOMMON
Relocating the dock while the robot is out orphans the position stored on its map.
HOW TO FIX IT
Clean the dock's emitter window
Wipe the signal emission area on the dock's front with a dry cloth, and pick off any stickers or debris.
Clear the area around the dock
Leave about half a metre free on each side and 1.5 metres in front.
Keep the dock parked
Put it against a wall on hard floor and leave it there — every move forces the robot to relearn the spot.
Test the return
Start the robot a room away and press the dock button. It should drive back and connect without circling.
